Transportation
Commercial Flights
If you’re flying commercial, fly into Anchorage International Airport. For late arrivals, I suggest you stay the first night in Anchorage, then drive down the next day. Moose tend to eat along the Seward Highway after 10 or 11 pm.
Rental Cars
All major rental car companies are located in Anchorage. Check the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau for local rental car companies. If you do rent a car, you’ll be able to drive to Seward or Cooper Landing for additional places for dinner.
Bus
If you’d like to take a bus from Anchorage, there’s a bus at 7 am that will get you to Moose Pass in time for your first day’s class at 9 am. They also have one that leaves at 3 pm and arrives here around 5 pm. On the Park Connection website, just subtract 30 minutes from the Seward arrival time to figure your Moose Pass time. For departures from Seward heading back to Anchorage, add 30 minutes to the Seward departure time.
For another afternoon departure from Anchorage, there’s a bus around 2:30 pm; you’ll arrive around 4:30 pm in Moose Pass. Check the Seward Bus Line for details.
Train
The Alaska Railroad has a train that leaves at 8:30 am and runs to Seward. The conductor normally does not stop in Moose Pass. You’ll arrive in Seward at 11:30 am. You can then take a taxi the 30 miles to Moose Pass.
If we have someone available, we’ll make every effort to pick you up, though no promises; sometimes we’re all busy.
